This past week has been an interesting one for me… cos i actually took the time to recount the events of my marriage in this past year and simply kept a grateful heart for the blessing of coming through it all and enjoying all the beautiful things it came with.
“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.””
Psalms 77:11-12 NIV
Anyway in this scripture Jeduthun, one of the leaders appointed by David to lead public worship, complains here about the state the Lord’s people were in and He wondered if God had forgotten how to be merciful! 😂
Found that pretty interesting but it makes so much sense! Sometimes you go through certain things and you wonder is God seeing this? is He even aware? Does He care?
However Jeduthun stops himself, and starts to consider all the wonderful things that God had done in the past and begins to be encouraged!
There’s one lesson i’ve learnt and intend to keep with me… “Pause, Think and be grateful”. I noticed there is such a power in pausing to just think on How God came through for you sometime back, ideally you should make notes on them… or something that’s just coming to me… get a gratitude wall, where you write the little testimonies and paste them so you can see them and be reminded of them.
Being able to remember the things God did before rekindles the fire of hope in your heart, could be a great remedy for depression and low moods because trust me… the miracles that occur on a daily could get missing in the many activities we get involved in. So if you’re someone who naturally always sees the negative side of things you want to set a time during the day e.g. “at 5pm everyday, I’ll take a 10min break to think about the good things that have happened in my life today”.
For some of us, actually what happens is that we go through a very bad situation and just in the nick of time we get a deliverance coming through… and perhaps because of the stress earlier endured the memory of the deliverance does not stay… you think about what a terrible day it was, but are unable to realize that you came home in one piece and have probably learnt some key lessons from the experience!
God is always working around you… so you wanna take time off and remember him and his good works in your life or even in that of people close to you… they say if your neighbor receives a miracle it means God is in the neighborhood!
Remember God and His mighty works! Be encouraged.
