“But when he saw the wind, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and took hold of him, and saith unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”
Matthew 14:30-31 ASV
You know sometime back i went through a series of crises, literally one after the other and when finally i went to God , his very words were “ i wanted to see how long before you reached out to me”! *jawdrops*!😱
Very little is said about how quickly Peter cried out to the Lord when He was drowing but i consider it something worth noting. Why do you think He cried Lord save me?!
1. Was He just afraid to die?
2. Did He actually think That Jesus could save him?
3. Or He figured at the point that there was nothing He could do to save himself!
I’ll say all of the above. Drowning in the middle of the ocean?.. He was definitely terrified! And Yess He did believe in the master’s ability to deliver him. And finally He must have been too aware of his state He couldn’t imagine there was anything he could do to save himself and so He reached out.
For most of us none of these reasons may apply. We just forget that the master is close by and could actually deliver… so we dabble in the waters, struggling with it, drinking a whole lot of the sea water and then when we’re almost out, our hearts remember than we have a savior.
For others you actually believe that Jesus doesn’t care about your troubles, he has better things doing .. “why bug God with these little challenges that are coming my way”.. well think about it, if it was that insignificant why is it sinking you? and for whom do you think Jesus came to die? And if He died for you, do you think that it is now that you are saved that he will abandon you? – Just think about it
When you are faced with the winds of life, shout out to Him and say “ Lord help me, save me!” We wait too long before we pray about things. We let the problem break us, weaken our faith and resolve and then when we have no strength left we try to call on Him for salvation.
Truth is, you don’t have to go through all of that! Call on him quickly, it’s a sign of trust that He is able to come through for you! Don’t wait, cut corners and then let the Lord be your last resort! Make Him your first point of call and let Him instead refer you to other places, at least you can be sure of the problem being solved because the recommendation came from him but if you choose to do trial & error with your challenges then you will end up with many unnecessary scars.
I am a first born and so I’m more of a do-it-yourself type of person. Which means that often when i have problems i try everything i know before reaching out for help and i realized at a point i had extended that attitude to God, i won’t pray about it and will be there enduring weeks of pain. Until He told me that calling out to Him showed Him that i trusted Him, and I had confidence in His love for me.
And look at Jesus’ response… the bible said “ and immediately Jesus reached out his hand and took hold of him”
Immediately He said! He didn’t wait this time… He came to his aid immediately! And thank God He did before Peter actually drowned! He will come through for you speedily when you call! There will be no delay! Reach out in faith and He will be right there for you.
I just want you to go through this day confident that even when you get into trouble because you doubted Him you can still call out to him and he’ll save you!
You are greatly loved darling…
Love,
Zoe 🌟
