No Doubt! Just Faith šŸ™ŒšŸ½

Such a subtle trait… could be lurking in your heart and you wouldn’t quite know. Why does it take you so long to go to God in prayer? Why can’t you seem to be confident in God’s word? We tell ourselves we need to be practical and logical, when it’s only an excuse to not hold on too strongly to God’s word for fear of being disappointed.

ā€œBut when he saw the wind, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and took hold of him, and saith unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?ā€

Matthew 14:30-31 ASV

When we’ve made mistakes, been tempted or hurt others, we wonder if God still loves us. When we go through hard times and experience things that hurt us or make us feel afraid, we doubt God’s goodness and love for us. But the truth is that nothing can separate us from His love.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?’ – Romans 8:35 NLT

Paul asked the big question: ā€˜Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?’ When we don’t know why God loves us in the first place, it’s easy to doubt His love at times. When we feel like we’re unlovable, that we’re too messed up or too broken for anyone to love us, we can question God’s love for us.

When we’ve live in fear for so long… the least situation has a way of triggering doubts in us. Wherever you go, you take your mentality with you. After four hundred years as captives in Egypt, the Israelites needed to adjust to their new freedom and learn to step into unfamiliar situations.

Consequently when they approached the Promised Land and their leader sent twelve spies in to check it out, ten came back saying, ā€˜The inhabitants of the land are giants. We are like grasshoppers compared to them.’ But two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, knew God was with them, so they reported, ā€˜The inhabitants of the land are like grasshoppers to us. We are well able to overcome them’ (see v. 30).

Joshua and Caleb developed the capacity to see things from God’s vantage point, and it spelled the difference between success and failure. When you see every situation from a higher viewpoint, through God’s eyes, you learn to ā€˜mount up with wings’ like an eagle (Isaiah 40:31 KJV). You stop looking at the devil’s picture of defeat and focus on God’s portrait of success.

Start speaking what you desire – not what you dread (see Psalm 107:2). Speak your expectations – not your fears. This isn’t mind-over-matter or pop psychology. It’s standing on God’s Word declaring, ā€˜I am what God says I am…I have what God says I have…and I can do what God says I can do!’ (Philippians 4:13).

If Only Peter had not looked at the wind but kept His focus on God He would have continued to walk on that water. Don’t let doubt in – focus on Jesus!

Much Love,
